Your mobile network is now backed up and running – that’s what happened

Three UK networks are backing up and running, after outraged customers were left without signal or data for almost 12 hours.

Customers posting on Downdetector posted shortly before 10: 30am today (Thu 17 October) to say the problems appear to be fixed.

If you are affected, the advice is to restart the phone and then the signal and data should work again across the country.

These issues have been reported around the world and on various devices.

After initially denying there was a network problem at all, Three, which has around 10 million UK customers, said the “difficulties” were affecting “some” customers.

A spokesman for Three wrote on the company’s Twitter account: “we are currently experiencing technical difficulties with voice, text and data, meaning some of you will experience intermittent service.

“Please accept our apologies, we are dealing with this right now. Check here for updates .”

Initially, the three users who complained were told that the problem was most likely related to individual devices or SIM card issues.

However, the problem is reported everywhere and no one has received a message to explain about any problems, leaving customers in the dark as to why they can’t receive texts, calls or Internet data.

The three website is currently down, with an error message posted on the landing page explaining that “necessary maintenance” is being carried out and that the site “will be launched soon”.

There are no other details at the moment.

Many customers experiencing downtime will no doubt be hoping to get money back to compensate for the inconvenience.

Ofcom rules state that mobile customers in the UK should automatically receive refunds when networks go down, rather than making claims against them.

The regulator’s website says people using mobile phones “should be able to establish quickly enough what went wrong and, if it’s a network maintenance issue, let you know how and when it will be fixed.”

“Depending on the circumstances, it may be appropriate for your supplier to offer you some money back while repairs are carried out.”
