Young’s adds 2 novelties to its portfolio

The 16th-century relay house, Griffin Inn, Fletchling, in East Sussex, overlooks the Ouse Valley and features a public bar, lounge, eating place and dining room.

It also has thirteen en-suite rooms along a giant garden with bar and covered terrace for year-round dining.

James Pullan, who previously ran the pub, paid tribute to his time at the southeast site over the past four decades.

He said, “After 44 years of owning, managing, living and loving the Griffin Inn, we are going to sell the business.

“During this time, we created an iconic and exclusive pub and it is critical to us that the next owner continues that legacy.

“We’re thrilled that Young’s has taken the torch – hands-off technique and overall professionalism will ensure the Griffin Inn remains everyone’s favourite pub. We wish each and every young person good luck in the long term with this historic gem.

In addition, the band also acquired Carpenter’s Arms in Tonbridge, Kent, which in the past was run by Jamie Brady.

The site includes a giant bar and restaurant, a lawn with cabanas and a front yard, and nine en-suite bedrooms.

Brady said, “It has been a privilege to lead Carpenter’s Arms for over 30 years and I wish each and every Young man of luck as they take the pub into this new chapter.

The General Manager of Young’s

He added, “The acquisitions are a wonderful opportunity to continue to build on Young’s controlled domain, whether sites align with our expansion strategy, which focuses on controlled homes with a premium offering.

“For us, it’s about celebrating genuine pubs with a legacy and, in turn, expanding our presence in Sussex and Kent, building on the enormous good fortune of our other recent acquisitions, such as Bull in Ditchling.

“We look forward to welcoming consumers to any of the pubs and wish the circle of family of Pullan and Jamie Brady all the most productive for the future. “

Both venues will continue to operate seven days a week, serving a menu of seasonal British dishes, as well as a wide variety of beers, wines and spirits from Young’s and guests.
