Asian elephants are basically found in Yunnan and are under the coverage of level A status in China. They are the largest and most representative terrestrial vertebrates in Asia.

The migratory animals attracted the world’s attention after traveling about 500 kilometers north of their local forest in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in southern Yunnan before reaching the provincial capital of Kunming on June 2 through the cities of Pu’er and Yuxi.
