It’s not the first time Putin has joked about election meddling. 

Us President Donald trump met briefly with Putin on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Japan in June. During the press conference, a journalist shouted at Trump whether he would tell Russia not to interfere in the American election.

“Yes, of course I will,” trump said.

Addressing Putin with a smile, trump jokingly said, ” Don’t interfere in the election, President.”
