After banning the use of cell phones in The Cabinet of Ministers, as well as his other official meetings, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has now turned and attractions on College campuses.
The office of higher education in UP has issued a circular announcing a complete ban on the use of mobile phones in the state’s universities and colleges, IANS reports. Students will no longer be allowed to borrow or use mobile phones at universities and colleges. The ban also applies to the faculty.
The government noted that a large number of students and teachers spend their precious time on mobile phones during College working hours. Thus, in order to provide “a better learning environment for students in all colleges and universities in the state”, the Directorate adopted this order.
In June, Adityanath banned officials from bringing mobile phones to meetings. “The chief Minister wants all Ministers to focus on the issues that are discussed at Cabinet meetings. They should not be distracted by their mobile phones. Some Ministers were busy reading WhatsApp messages during the meeting, ” a senior official in the chief Minister’s Secretariat told the Agency.
So Ministers would reportedly have to Deposit their phones at a designated counter before proceeding with the meeting – the silence mode was no longer good enough. The decision was also made in connection with hacker attacks and threats of electronic espionage.
