WASHINGTON (AP) – President Donald Trump first announced a “delay” in the November 3 presidential election because he makes unsubstantiated accusations that an increase in mail voting will lead to fraud.
The dates of the presidential election, the Tuesday following the first Monday in November of the fourth year, are enshrined in federal law and would require a congressional law to change. The Constitution does not provide for the postponement of the presidential inauguration on 20 January 2021.
However, the mere suggestion of a heist was common in a country that presented itself as a beacon to the world for its history of non-violent power movements.

Trump tweeted Thursday: “With universal postal voting (not mail voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most inaccurate and FRAUDULENT election in history. It will be a wonderful disgrace to The United States. Delay elections until others can vote properly, safely and safely ??? »
Trump’s tweet came on a day of economic news and amid a dark political patch for his re-election efforts.
The government reported Thursday that the U.S. economy recorded a staggering annual rate of 32.9% in the quarter from April to June, through the worst quarterly drop of all time, as the coronavirus outbreak closed companies, threw tens of millions unemployed and led to unemployment. up to 14.7 per cent.
And Trump is lagging behind in polls, nationally and in battlefield states, and some polls even recommend that historically trending Republican states could be at stake. Although Trump has returned earlier after constantly lagging behind in the 2016 polls, this has raised the option that he may face an overwhelming loss if he doesn’t replace things.
There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud through mail voting, even in states where voting is complete. Five states already rely exclusively on mail ballots, and say they have safeguards in a position to ensure that a hostile foreign actor does not interrupt the vote. Election security experts say the entire bureaucracy of voter fraud is rare, adding vote by mail.
Trump has tried to call into question the November election and the expected increase in mail and mail voting in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. And Trump has called remote voting functions “the biggest risk” for his re-election. His crusade and the Republican Party continued to combat the practice, which was once a significant credit to the Republican Party.
Trump refused in an interview with Fox News a few weeks ago to devote himself to accepting the effects of the upcoming White House elections, recalling a risk he took weeks before the 2016 vote.
“I was given to see. Listen… I have to see,” Trump told moderator Chris Wallace in a wide-ranging interview on “Fox News Sunday.” “No, I’m not just going to say “yes.” I’m not going to say “no, ” and I didn’t do it last time either.”
Trump and many members of his administration have already used mail-in voting, Trump has tried to differentiate it from a developing push across states to send ballots or request absentee bureaucracy from all registered voters.
Voters and civil servants have expressed fears that the virus will spread in person, and states have reported difficulties in filling the posts of election officials in the face of the pandemic.
Last month, Trump told his supporters in Arizona that “this will, in my opinion, be the highest corrupt election in our country’s history.”
Turns out there’s virtually no appetite on capitol for a replacement in the November 3 election. Democrats have mobilized to submit dollar bills on the upcoming coronavirus relief bill to fund innovations in voter safety and accessibility for this year’s vote, but so far Trump and Republicans have resisted those efforts.
Just a few months ago, in April, Trump ruled out the possibility of looking to replace the election. “I didn’t even think of converting the election date,” he said. “Why do I do it? November 3. It’s a smart number. No, I look forward to this election.”

“I’m not thinking about it at all,” he added. “Not at all.”
Attorney General William Barr, speaking to a House committee this week, said there is a “high threat” that mail voting would lead to “massive” fraud. He said he had “no reason to think” that the next election would be rigged. But he said he believed that “if you have a wholesale vote by mail, it greatly increases the threat of fraud.”
Rep. Cedric Richmond, D.- La., asked Barr at the hearing if an acting U.S. president could simply change the election date. Barr replied, “Actually, I don’t have this factor under the Constitution.”
