Tampa International Airport, in partnership with BayCare Health System, has announced the launch of the country’s first airport verification pilot to offer two types of FDA-approved COVID-19 checks for all passengers departing and arriving.
The verification site, located inside the main terminal near the Airside F ferry, will provide immediate antigen verification and polymer chain reaction (PCR) verification. Interested travelers will be able to purchase any check, regardless of the airline they have booked on, their place of boarding or their destination.
Tests will be conducted without an appointment from October 1 to October 31, seven days a week from 8 a. m. 2 p. m. The pilot will be open to all passengers with a price ticket flying or flying within 3 days and possibly provide evidence of travel. The COVID-19 PCR check costs $125 and the antigenic check $57.

Passengers departing from Tampa to states, countries or territories requiring negative PCR checks must perform verification 3 days prior to departure and effects can be expected within 48 hours.
The antigen test, which produces effects in 15 minutes and is more accurate within five days of the onset of symptoms, provides an additional layer of same-day convenience for travelers arriving or leaving APD.
