Taiwanese 7-Eleven aim to attract more female consumers in time for national celebrations
Carrollton, Jan. 26, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — As arrangements begin for Lunar New Year celebrations, Citizens of Taiwan will purchase BuzzBallz, a round, one-serving, ready-to-drink cocktail at the attractive 7-Eleven retail outlets in the country. BuzzBallz partnered with Uni-President Corporation, a 7-Eleven franchise with a giant footprint in Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, to bring those individual cocktails to the shelves.
All of the following flavors were in inventory at retail stores in December: Strawberry’ Rita, Lotta Colada, Tequila’ Rita and Choc Tease.
“We’ve been running this initiative since the spring,” said Derek Dodge, vice president of foreign affairs. “We signed the contract in early September. Our first shipment in October and the product [arrived] in Taiwan in December So, overall, it [took] 8 months for the full program to come together.
It was vital for BuzzBallz to put the product on the shelves before February 1, Lunar New Year, as it is a holiday that is celebrated with family and friends with alcoholic beverages.
“[Lunar] The New Year in Taiwan is about family reunions with other dinners scheduled for the week,” said Rodolphe Guillonneau, director of Uni-President Corporation’s global sourcing workplace for lifestyle brands. “Drinking is, of course, a big component of the [festivities], as dinners are followed by lots of discussions, card games, mahjong and more. “
According to Guillonneau, the convenience of entertaining was not the only explanation for why Uni-President was interested in cocktails. He predicted that the colorful packaging would be appealing, especially before lunar New Year celebrations, as many other people like to incorporate the color red. or colors related to your zodiac sign in your everyday life those celebrations.
Although Lunar New Year celebrations are steeped in tradition, the Uni-President society has noticed a replacement in the country’s drinking culture over the years, as more and more women consume alcohol.
According to The Drink Business, Taiwanese make up the majority of the country’s teetotalers due to the aversion to the strong taste and sting of spirits and beer, most fed alcoholic beverages to date.
However, a 2018 through the Taiwan Public Opinion Foundation showed that more than a portion of the drinkers surveyed prefer wine, a much milder alcoholic beverage.
True to her instinct and the development of trends in alcohol consumption in Taiwan, Guillonneau felt it was more productive to market BuzzBallz cocktails, a creamy and tasty cocktail, to older women of Generation Z and Generation Y.
BuzzBallz Cocktails, which is, coincidentally, a women-owned brand, has the artisanal flavor that Taiwanese women in the restaurant do.
As Guillonneau finalizes its plans to market those brightly colored little cocktails, it has decidedly opted for innovation, female-owned status, fun branding, and convenience in its search for influential content.
Ahead of the national holidays, it partners with content creators for 7-Eleven, reviews, summaries, and more.
