The collapse of the hotel in New Orleans, USA

The 18-story Hard Rock hotel building partially collapsed during construction in New Orleans, USA.

According to local media reports, two people were killed and more than 30 were injured, including members of the public. A Builder on the project is still missing, with the new Orleans mayor’s office saying first responders were still in rescue and rescue mode.

It was reported that more than 100 builders were sent to the hotel project, although it was not revealed how many of them were on site at the time of the collapse.

New Orleans emergency services, supported by engineering experts who have experience of the September 11 attacks in new York, are working to secure the building and prevent further collapse.

While local authorities initially maintained a single site perimeter security unit to ensure the safety of residents, a statement released today by New Orleans city hall says its latest estimates show that two tower cranes at the site are unstable as a result of the collapse, and that officials have been forced to expand the evacuation zone.

Several families located near the hotel were forced to leave their homes, and several businesses were also closed.

Construction of the hotel began in 2015 and was scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2020. A statement on the company’s website said: “We appreciate the outpouring of support and concern over the tragic accident at our future Hard Rock Hotel site in New Orleans. We are shocked and saddened by the loss of life, but we are also grateful that most of the injured are now comfortably resting at home with their families. We will continue to monitor the condition of those who remain under medical care.”

Currently, investigations are underway, during which the causes of the collapse are established.
