Tesla to pay China $323 million a year in factory site tax

The commitments are not onerous compared to the company’s own goals, which include plunging several billion dollars into the facility. Tesla said last week it aims to produce half a million vehicles at the Shanghai site over the next 12 months, depending on how quickly production builds up.

“We believe the capital expenditure requirement and tax revenue target will be achievable even if our actual car production was much lower than the volumes we forecast,” Tesla said in a statement.
