The Sahlen team has a rich history in lifelong power sports car competition. In the team’s inaugural year, the team won the 1984 SCCA, keeping the elegance with a Volkswagen Golf. This followed the victory of the same championship in 1987. In 1997 and 1999, the team won the IMSA Endurance Touring Elegance Championships with the Mazda MX6. The team then moved on to Acura Integras and again won the 2001 and 2002 Grand American Endurance ST titles. The team then moved on to the IMSA Endurance Championship and won the 2003 and 2004 titles with the Porsche 911. L Then the The team went on to compete in the Grand American ROLEX Series, driving a variety of cars adding the Porsche GT3 Cup, Pontiac GTO, Chevrolet Corvette and Mazda RX7. During this period, the team won the 2005 and 2011 Bob Akin Sportsman Awards in GT Elegance. In 2013, the team competed at the highest point in sports car racing – the ROLEX series elegance prototype. In 2014, the Sahlen team returned to the IMSA Endurance Championship, clinching the Manufacturers’ Championship for Porsche and barely missing the ST Drivers and Teams Championship. Currently, the Sahlen team participates in the Sportsman Endurance Series which includes Summit Racing – American Endurance Racing, World Racing League and Tire Rack – ChampCar Endurance Series. In total, more than 150 drivers have driven for the Sahlen team in their 62 race cars on 56 circuits.
