Show money, Kadir tells those looking.

PETALING JAYA: DR Mahathir Mohamad’s media adviser Qadir Jasin said those seeking to buy PLUS Malaysia Berhad must prove their seriousness by coming with half a billion ringgit to be deposited with the government.

Qadir said the money could be returned to them after Putrajaya decides who will take over the highway concessionaire owned by Hazana Nasional and the workers ‘ Fund.

“Talk, empty promises don’t matter. Show the government and the people the cash, ” he said in a Facebook post.

It emerged yesterday that tycoon Halim Saad was the latest to join the race to take over the company, making a joint offer with businessman Wong Jan Kui to buy a 51% stake in Khazanah for RM 5.2 billion.

This followed bumiputera construction giant Widad Business Group, a Malaysian-led Hong Kong private equity firm, RRJ Capital, and Maju Holdings Sdn Bhd, which also confirmed they had made their offers.

The highways involved in the takeover are PLUS highway, Second Link Expressway, Penang bridge, North South Expressway Central link, Butterworth Coolim Expressway and Seremban-Port Dixon highway.

The government said it would examine any proposal to acquire PLUS if it met the country’s demands and benefited motorists with lower fares.
