MOSCOW – Russian authorities blocked a regional news website over the weekend over a report of graffiti insulting Vladimir Putin, its editor-in-chief said, in line with a new ban on insulting officials online.
News site 76.Ru in Yaroslavl in the North-East of Moscow was blocked by Roskomnadzor for more than 12 hours on April 12-13, said the editor-in-chief of the magazine Olga Prokhorova.
According to her, Roskomnadzor reported 76.Ru after blocking the site that its report on graffiti on the columns of the local police station, rudely inarticulate Putin, contains information that has been flagged under the law on insulting the authorities.
