Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson apologized to Giancarlo Stanton after joking on the radio about the Yankees slugger missing game 2 of the ALCS due to injury.
Jackson, currently a special counsel for the Yankees, says he was joking and didn’t realize he was on the air when he made the comment.
“(Expletive), he’s been all (bleeping) year! How (exclusive) can it be hurt?, “Jackson told Jim Bowden on MLB Network Radio on Sunday, but quickly realized they were live.
“It’s not on the air, is it?”Jackson said. “Honestly, God?”
Jackson said NJ.com that he immediately contacted Stanton to apologize.
“He kindly accept my faux paux,” Jackson said.
Stanton missed the Yankees ‘ loss to the Astros on Sunday with a tight four. He played only 18 regular season games this season due to shoulder and knee injuries.
“It was, ‘Oh (bleep)” for me. I thought it was a joke. I almost choked when he said they were on the air, ” Jackson said NJ.com.
