Police in Japan probe alleged attack on Rugby players at Kumamoto bar

Police in Japan are investigating an alleged attack by Uruguayan Rugby players on a bar in the southwest of the country.

Japanese news Agency Kyodo reported that two Uruguayan footballer players grabbed employees and damaged property at a bar in Kumamoto.

Kyodo said the business could file a criminal complaint.

“World Rugby is aware of an alleged incident involving members of the Uruguay team at Kumamoto bar,” the Rugby body said in a statement on Thursday.

“The alleged issue is very disappointing and clearly not consistent with the family spirit of the tournament.”
