NLCS MVP Howie Kendrick misses Nationals workouts due to family emergency

The Washington Nationals worked Friday ahead of the World series but were without the National League championship series MVP.

Howie Kendrick has been missing due to a family emergency, but General Manager Dave Martinez said he will be back soon and expects him to be ready for the start of the World series, which begins Tuesday in Houston or new York.

At 36, the 14-year veteran led the team with .344 batting average during the regular season, playing first, second and third base.
