From 8 January 2025, all US citizens transiting through or travelling to the UK for tourism, family visits, business meetings, conferences or short-term studies of six months or less will be required to download an electronic form. Travel authorization (ETA) before traveling, according to the U. S. State Department

An ETA is valid for two years. You can find information about the new development and how to apply on the UK government website.

US citizens can apply for the app by installing ‘UK ETA’ from the App Store or Google Play or apply online at the UK government’s ‘How to Apply’ webpage.
