A Peterborough man has been charged with assault following an investigation at a local shopping centre on Saturday afternoon.

Peterborough police say that around 13: 30 the accused and the woman became involved in a verbal argument in a food court at Lansdowne Place shopping centre. Police say the verbal altercation turned physical when the suspect allegedly assaulted the woman.

Bath was released from custody to face court in Peterborough on November 5.
