Christopher Prestipino faces charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree kidnapping, according to court records. Detectives found the body in the desert North of Las Vegas on October 8 and linked it to the case of a missing person since late may, according to NBC affiliate KSNV.
The Clark County district attorney’s office identified the woman as 24-year-old Esmeralda Gonzalez.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan police received a recall in July that Prestipino may have been linked to a woman who went missing on may 31, according to KSNV. Detectives said the woman was detained against her will at Prestipino’s residence and killed.
Prestipino was arrested Friday, just three days after a body encased in concrete was found.
Gonzalez lived a mile from the Prestipino residence and was reported missing by her brother after he found her front door unlocked and was unable to contact her for several days, according to the Las Vegas Review magazine. Court documents allege Prestipino strangled Gonzalez and injected her with a pool cleaner, the newspaper reported.
Prestipino’s attorney did not respond to a request for comment from NBC News.
