The highest degrees of skill and festival from all corners of Louisiana were reflected in this year’s LSWA Class 5A All-State teams.
Seventeen schools were represented in the first or team at the moment, adding another nine schools with players in the first male or female only.
And the 4 notable awards honored two of the state’s most accomplished and drafted players in all grades and two young coaches who set their team up to succeed at its peak in time for memorable postseason runs.

Zachary Senior Jalen Bolden made the front page of the boys’ list as a notable player for his leading role in the Broncos’ back-to-back race for the Class 5A title.
The 6-foot-5-inch guard averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists consistent with the game in his direct crusade time in all states, District 4-5A, Class 5A championship and LHSAA MVP tournament honors.
Bolden signed to play in the ULM.

Junior Parkway Mikaylah Williams scored the girls’ highest score as a player.
The 6-1 guard led his Panthers to a 33-3 and the program’s first state championship game with averages of 22. 8 points, 8. 0 rebounds, 3. 7 assists and 2. 2 steals.
Williams added the ultimate award to an already remarkable resume that included an MVP run and a gold medal for the United States at the FIBA 3×3 U-18 World Cup last summer in Hungary and the Louisiana Player of the Year award. Gatorade this year.
She is also a Naismith Award finalist as the best school player in the country and ranks first in the prospect rankings in the 2023 recruiting elegance through HoopGurlz and ProspectsNation. com.
Josh Carlin decided to be the Men’s Coach of the Year after leading Northshore to his first state championship game in his first season at the school.

The son of Salmen’s longtime coach, Jay Carlin, helped the Panthers go from a 20-13 record and a quarterfinal appearance last year to a 28-7 record and a Class 5A run that included 3 consecutive changes from higher-ranking opponents: twice on the road and then in the unbiased state semifinals.
Ruston’s trainer, Ryan Bond, and John Curtis’ coach, Bill Lewit, won the votes for the award.
Krystal Flowers won Women’s Coach of the Year honors in her season at the helm of the McKinley program after a two-year absence.
They led their Panthers to a 19-10 and the first game for the Division I name since they did so in 2017 and 2018.
John Curtis coach Temeka Johnson and Ponchatoula coach Patricia Landaiche won votes.
