Lee Ann Walker shoots 127 at senior LPGA after 42 penalty kicks

FRENCH LICK, Ind. “It’s not a typo named Lee Ann Walker.

Her scores for the senior LPGA championship are legitimately 127-90. They were adjusted after it came to Walker’s attention that she had broken the rules by having her Caddie line her up on the put surface on the pit dye course.

Walker suffered a two-stroke penalty for each time it happened, adding 42 strokes to her opening score of 85 on Monday and 16 additional strokes to her second-round score on Tuesday. That’s a total of 58 penalties.

LPGA rules official Marty Robinson said another caddie in the group reported Walker’s rules violation in the middle of the front nine of her second round.

Walker then brought the situation to the attention of the official on the 14th hole (her fifth), Robinson said.

“We recreate it once that happened,” Robinson said.

Walker was not disqualified from the competition because rule 3.3 b States that a player is not disqualified for signing an incorrect contract for not including “one or more penalties that the player was unaware of before returning the score.”
