Jose Altuve sent the Houston Astros to the World series – KTRK-TV

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – and just like that, the Houston Astros reached the World series for the second time in three years thanks to Jose Altuve’s walk-off HR. Altuve was named ALCS MVP after his historic HR outing. “I can’t wait for the World Series,” Altuve said after the game upon receiving the award.

Jose Altuve reached second base on a line drive that went to the center field wall. After Michael Brantley popped out to center, Alex Bregman had a free walk to first base that sent Yuli Gurriel to the plate with two runners on base.

Gurriel blasted a Crawford box ball in the bottom of the first to give the Astros an early 3-0 lead. This was sorely needed as Gurriel was in decline at the plate.

The Yankees made their presence felt early, and after scoring on an RBI single by Gary Sanchez with two outs. Didi Gregorius started the momentum with a double to deep right field.

Peacock was pulled with two outs in the second after giving Gio Urshela a free ride to first base. Josh James replaced Peacock and struck out Brett Gardner to get out of the jam.

James walked the umpire in the third, and Gleiber Torres got one on a blooper to left-center field. Aaron Hicks flew to right field and James proceeded to walk Edwin Encarnacion, loading the bases as Ryan Pressley was called up to replace James.

Pressly ran the bases loaded jam by mark Gregorius out, but a noticeably lame header into the dugout. It was announced that Pressly would be day – to-day with knee pain.

The leadoff walk by George Springer started the bottom of the third, but three straight outs from Altuve, Brantley and Bregman left Springer in the second, bringing another stranded runner into scoring position.

Urshela hit a home run into right field that cut the Astros ‘ lead to 3-2. On the very next at-bat, Brett Gardner also sent one to right field that barely had a foul ball. Fans inside Minute Maid Park held their breath.

Gardner then got one to left field and the tying run was on base. Jose Urquidy avoided trouble by striking out the umpires, and Urquidy showed some emotion after the big strike.

Jordan Alvarez struck out before the end of the fourth, continuing his disastrous drought during the postseason. Up to this point, Alvarez had only one hit in the ALCS.

To start in the bottom of the fifth, Martin Maldonado knocked out a bunt for one by the hair alone. AJ Hinch challenged Maldonado’s initial call-up time shouted. Springer landed a double play to complete the fifth.

After Urquidi went to Sanchez, Urshela went to the stove. He hit a home run by Urquidy in the fourth that cut the Astros ‘ lead to two. Urshela would get on base for the third time Saturday with a single, putting two on base with only one out.

Gardner blasted a line drive to right field, but Josh Reddick had a highlight diving catch to save what could have already resulted in runs for the Yankees. Reddick’s teammates cheered his play from the dugout.

Will Harris entered the game instead of Archili after diving from Reddick. He only took Harris one pitch to avoid the sixth inning, leaving the Yankees 1-6 with runners in scoring position at that point.

Altuve walked Tommy Kahnle to start in the bottom of the sixth, and a ground ball to right field gave Brantley a single while moving Altuve to third with a scoreless out. (Ads /) Bregman got his first RBI of the ALCS on an RBI single that sent Altuve home. The ground ball got to Brantley, but Bregman knocked the throw to first base and stopped the double play. Gurriel landed out to Kahnle, but it sent Bregman to second with 2 outs and Correa at the plate. Correa struck out, but he was on a wild pitch, giving him an opportunity to run to first base and be called safe. He moved up to third place.

Correa stole second during Alvarez’s at-bat, but Alvarez’s slump continued as he struck out once more to send the game to seventh.

Brantley might be game of the year in the seventh inning. He dived to catch a blooper from Hicks in left field, immediately stood up and threw an absolute laser to get the umpire first. Minute Maid Park erupted after a highlight play from the All-Star.

Oh boy…. Brantley. You’re my friend. Knowledge the playoffs.

Joe Smith took the mound for the Astros in the eighth, starting with a strikeout at Encarnacion. Gregorius then hit a line drive single to left field, putting the Yankees ‘ tying run on base. Sanchez hit a double play and ended the momentum, however.

Brantley walked with a single in the bottom of the eighth, and Jake Marisnick stepped in as a pinch-runner. Gourriel allocated on the liner right field to send Marinica to third place. Correa was then walked, and Aledmys Diaz came in as a pinch-hitter in replacing Alvarez.

After a heartbreaking HR was surrendered to the Yankees in the ninth, Altuve stepped into the clutch with a walk off HR in center field and sent all of Houston into a frenzy.
