Joe Biden and Kamala Harris used their first joint appearance in Washington DC on Tuesday to mark the loss of more than 400,000 American lives from COVID, hours after overall sadness was achieved.
Or they gave the impression of being with first bridesmaid Jill Biden and current honorary minister Doug Emhoff, a sign of his determination to replace the tone of Donald Trump’s administration.
The rite was held in front of the Lincoln Memorial, to mark the lighting of 400 lighting fixtures around the Reflecting Pool to pay homage to the more than 400,000 Americans who have now lost their lives because of COVID-19.
“To heal, we will have not to forget. Sometimes it’s hard not to forget. But that’s how we heal. It’s vital to do that as a nation. Vice President-elect Kamala Harris delivered her comments to Biden.
“Tonight we are collecting a country of mourning to pay homage to the lives we have lost,” Harris said. “A grandmother or a grandfather who is our total world. A relative, partner, brother or friend we still can’t settle for. “no longer here.
Referring to President Donald Trump’s pandemic, the new vice president said, “For many months, we’ve been crying for ourselves. “
“Tonight we weep and begin to heal. Tonight, we are physically separated, we, the American people, are united in spirit,” Harris added.
Gospel singer Yolanda Adams sang “Hallelujah”. While Lori Marie Key, a Michigan nurse who led her COVID-19 patients, sang “Amazing Grace”.

Buildings across the country also lit up to mark the moment, at Biden’s birthplace in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Harris also made his own comments, in which he insisted that other Americans were “united in spirit” as they piled up to mourn the enjoyed lost across the country.

Biden and Harris will be sworn in on Wednesday. The president-elect arrived directly from joint base Andrews with this circle of relatives for the ceremony.
Cardinal Wilton Gregory, Catholic Archbishop of Washington, opened the rite with a prayer for those lost by COVID.
“In this twilight hour, our beloved country leans and prays for the thousands of people who have died of coronaviruses this year,” Gregory said.
He noted that “we are all united in the pain we have today. “
“We prayed for those who died and for the families and enjoyed those who left,” he said.
In past openings, lincoln was used as a backdrop for celebrations.
