“It is not surprising that the President of the United States will be criticized by the media,” Bruce said. “However, in the era of the trump presidency, this has changed from criticism to activism… with the purpose to hurt his presidency.”

Strassel described the anti-trump press corps as ” people feeling that because they’re so obsessed with it that they’re allowed to transgress… normal standards.”.”

“Look, we’ve had a lot of controversial presidents in history and a lot of passionate responses to them,” she continued.  “But this particular group of people … that were committed from day one to get rid of Donald trump engaged in all kinds of behavior that I would argue is detrimental to the larger institutions in the country, something that we need to keep our society intact.”

“It also got a lot worse because of Donald trump, partly because of his style and partly because … this so-called resistance that has given up all restraint in confronting him, ” Jenkins said, pointing to last year’s tumultuous confirmation hearing for Supreme court justice Brett kavanaugh.

“It’s flashing neon invitations for people to make false accusations. If the media is willing to entertain, what if the political class is willing to entertain them, then why not fill the void with false allegations? Jenkins Added.

With this opinion Strassel agreed, stating that the U.S. Senate is one of the institutions compromised by antitrombinom.

“You can run through the list of institutions and standards that are currently demolished at the moment … Look back at the kavanaugh hearing, ” she said, arguing that people “have completely abandoned the whole concept of due process … due process is a pretty important thing in this country .”
