A new segment on the Alexandria Public Schools online page primarily notes how much COVID-19 the district has earned and how the money was or will be spent.

Trevor Peterson, the school district’s director of advertising services, a budget update at the regular Alexandria School Board meeting on Monday, Jan. 24.
Three other laws: the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act; the law of complementary credits for intervention and relief against the coronavirus; and the U. S. Rescue Plan Act: most of the funds.
Peterson said the CARES Act, which was enacted on March 27, 2020, provided $2. 2 trillion in federal financial assistance and the total amount allocated to Alexandria public schools just over $1. 4 million.
The CARES Act cash was split into 3 major investment resources for the school district, adding the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund ($43,805), the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER I) ($337,098), and the Coronavirus Relief Fund ($1. 05 million).
All cash provided to the school district must be spent on certain dates, as dictated by the source of investment. For example, cash from the Coronavirus Relief Fund had to be spent before December 31, 2020, while the ESSER I budget had to be exhausted. until September 30, 2022.
As of Jan. 17, 100% of the CARES Act budget had been spent, Peterson said.
Here’s a breakdown of how the cash was used:
CRRSA, which amounted to $81. 88 billion in education, included ESSER II funding. The CRRSA act was enacted on December 27, 2020. Alexandria public schools earned $1. 4 million, which must be spent until September 30, 2023. – $711,145 – spent as of January 17. Here’s how the maximum of that cash was spent:
The ARP Act, which was enacted on March 11, 2021, awarded $1. 3 billion to help schools resume and maintain safe, in-person learning for all students. The budget was divided into several investment resources for school districts, adding people with disabilities Act; educational and intellectual aptitude aids in the summer; homeless youth and youth; ESSER III; increased investment in adult basic intellectual education; and loss of instructional time.
Alexandria public schools earned a total of $3. 6 million in the ARP Act. As of Jan. 17, the district had spent approximately $31,910.
They have plans for ESSER III funding, which amounts to about $3. 1 million. Approximately 20%, $629,131, will be used for recovery, adding more staff, summer school activities and student experiences.
80%, or $2. 5 million, is for HVAC upgrades at Discovery Middle School and Garfield Elementary School.
Other COVID investment allocations, from some sources, amounted to approximately $465,812.
Peterson said the district plans to update the online page once a month to reflect any adjustments in the amount of cash spent and where it was used.
