Houston Food Bank Receives Crucial Help from Amazon for Delivery and Logistics Support of Hundreds of Thousands of Meals

Amazon’s Multifaceted Partnership Brings Hope to community

HOUSTON, October 13, 2021 — (BUSINESS WIRE) – In partnership with Amazon, the Houston Food Bank gives hope to the local network in the form of much-needed food and food delivered directly to the doors of vulnerable Houstonians in need Since Amazon established its network delivery program with the Houston Food Bank in May 2020, the company has delivered more than 500,000 foods to vulnerable families, children and seniors in the Greater Houston area. Amazon’s Houston fulfillment center led the local partner to do even more by doing what Amazon does best: packing and shipping the product. After traveling to the Houston food bank’s main warehouse with its control team, Amazon figured out a way to use its own warehouse capacity and volunteer workers to ease some of the food bank’s logistical load.

For this new initiative, products not consistent with disposables are delivered from the Houston Food Bank to Amazon’s fulfillment center in Houston, where Amazon volunteers unload, sort and repack individual food and food into boxes and re-palletize, then deliver the pallets (55 pallet-consistent instances) to the Houston Food Bank’s main warehouse for simple and effective distribution to the community.
