Germany is launching the portal for visa applications

Germany’s Foreign Ministry has introduced a new virtual platform for visa applications, with its Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, hailing it as “a genuine administrative revolution” in a press release.

The virtual portal, available here, aims to facilitate access to mandatory documents for those who wish to work, study or register in a family in Germany.

Applicants can online among 28 national visas categories.

The new portal is available since January 1, 2025 for the 167 German visas offices worldwide.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock welcomed the new system, saying the reform is “a long time ago. “

“Germany is missing every year at least 400,000 professional workers,” says Baerbock.

“At times like these, we cannot afford to downright put the best off coming here to roll up their sleeves because of long paper application forms and even longer waiting periods,” she added.

Baerbock stressed that Germany, as an immigration country, requires “a national visa process that is state-of the-art — modern, digital and secure.”
