Part of the city in central Dresden in eastern Germany evacuated on Thursday morning, while bomb disposal sets were preparing to withdraw a World War II operation discovered near the Carola Bridge. The evacuation order affects about 10,000 people who live and paint in the Old Town Historic District.
A component of the bridge, a key crossing for car and tram traffic across the Elbe River, collapsed early in the morning of September 11, 2024.
While fixing paintings on the bridge, staff discovered the bomb.
It is the time that the bridge, originally built in 1895, was partially destroyed. The German army exploded it intentionally in May 1945 to avoid Soviet advance. The existing bridge built between 1967 and 1971.
World War II ammunition are discovered on the floor during structure and maintenance paintings in primary German cities. Dresden was the site of several bombing campaigns, adding the notorious aerial raids of February 1945 that saw the allies fall 4,000 bombs, leaving the city. in ruins and killing 25,000 people.
