Financial Times says that Chinese President Xi Jinping will send a high -level envoy to the presidential inauguration of Donald Trump in a friction resolution between China and the United States.
The British newspaper reported this on Thursday, quoting several people familiar with the talks. It said Beijing has informed Trump’s transition team that a top official would attend instead of Xi.
Trump invited the Chinese president to the inauguration rite on Jan. 20.
The Financial Times says that XI can send the vice president Han Zheng or the Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The newspaper says some Trump aides Cai Qi to attend. CAI is a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party and is one of XI’s closest aides.
The newspaper says, “The attendance of any of the officials would be unprecedented, given China has previously been represented by its ambassador in Washington.”
It also says, “Beijing is desperate to ease friction with Washington, while it was tipped for an imaginable serious escalation of industry tensions. “Trump advised expanding the costs of Chinese imports once he has taken office.
