Montclair’s office of environmental Affairs presents the next free Green film screening series on Thursday, October 17 at 6 p.m. at the Montclair Public library, 50 South Fullerton Avenue.
“Backfired – When VW lied to America” tells the inside story of the vw false emissions scandal. The unraveling begins at West Virginia University in 2013, where a group of unsuspecting students accidentally discover a defeat device VW technicians used while they were doing rare on-road testing. It got worse from there.
From West Virginia to California, to Washington, Germany and Paris, we hear from those who broke the case and sought justice.
“Backfired” leaves viewers with a new understanding of the role of regulators, the power of money, and the willingness of large corporations to deliberately jeopardize the health of millions and dramatically increase carbon emissions. Most importantly, it will inspire viewers to reflect on our duty to our children and continue the fight for clean air and livable planets.
Bring a friend, neighbor, or your family ecologist to this free event, and open public discussion afterwards.
