Elton John doesn’t feel love for Disney?s latest live action remake.

In an interview with G q UK, the legendary musician criticized Disney?s remake? The Lion King,? referring to the film’s music as ?huge disappointment.?

? The new lion King version was a huge disappointment for me because I believe they messed up the music. The music was so much a part of the original and the music in the current film doesn’t have the same impact,? John said. ? Magic and joy were lost.?

John also highlighted the soundtrack?s commercial performance, claiming the original music franchise debuted a much stronger reception in 1994.

? The soundtrack hasn’t had nearly the same impact on the charts as it did 25 years ago, when it was the best-selling album of the year. The new soundtrack dropped out of the charts so quickly despite massive box office success,? John said. ? I wish I had been invited to the party more, but the creative vision of the film and its music was different this time and I was really welcomed or treated with the same level of respect. It makes me very sad. I’m so happy that the right spirit for music lives with the Lion King stage musical.?
