Elon Musk Peddles Political Influence Abroad, Endorsing Germany’s Far-Right Party

BERLIN (AP) — Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk caused uproar after backing Germany’s far-right party in a major newspaper ahead of key parliamentary elections in the Western European country, leading to the resignation of the paper’s opinion editor in protest.

Germany will vote in a first election on Feb. 23 after Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s three-fold ruling coalition collapsed last month in a dispute over how to revitalize the country’s stagnant economy.

Musk’s guest opinion article for Welt Am Sonunta, a political sister publication that belongs to the Axel Springer organization, published in German over the weekend, was the time of this month, supported the election of Germany or AFD.

“The election for Germany (AFD) is the last spark of hope for this country,” Musk wrote in his translated comment.

He continued to say that the Law party “can lead the country to a long career where economic prosperity, cultural integrity and technological innovation are not only desires, but reality. “

The Tesla Motors CEO wrote that his investment in Germany gave him the right to comment on the state of the country.

AFD intervenes strongly, however, his candidate for the first job, Alice Weidel, has no realistic possibilities because other parties refuse paintings with excessive right.

A best friend of the American elected president Donald Trump, the multimillionaire of Generation challenged in his opinion article, the public symbol of the party.

“The portrayal of the AfD as right-wing extremist is clearly false, considering that Alice Weidel, the party’s leader, has a same-sex partner from Sri Lanka! Does that sound like Hitler to you? Please!”

Musk’s comment led to a debate in the German media about the limits of freedom of expression, with the newspaper’s own editor who pronounced his resignation, the Musk social media platform, X.

“At all times I liked to direct the opinion segment of Welt and Wams. Today, an article by Elon Musk gave the impression in Welt Am Sonunta. I resigned after his impression, ”Eva Marie Kogel wrote.

A critical article through the editor in chief of The Welt Group, Jan Philipp Burgard, accompanied Musk’s opinion article.

“The diagnosis of musk is correct, however, its cure approach, which AFD can save Germany, is fatally bad,” Burgard wrote.
