When you combine ceramics, artists, restaurants and like-minded volunteers, the result is Empty bowls of Wichita falls.
The event began eight years ago and is an important fundraiser for the Wichita falls area food Bank. The food Bank serves the 12-County area and works with a number of community food pantries to assist individuals, families and children in need.
This year’s event featured 15 local restaurants serving more than 20 soups.
For the price of a ticket, visitors get to taste all the soups, freshly baked bread and desserts and take home a hand-tossed bowl.
An additional feature is the silent auction with a number of local ceramics artists creating works of art that are auctioned.
Hundreds of beautiful bowls are created by Steve Hilton and his students in the Department of ceramic arts at Midwestern state University.
