Drones observations in German police investigation in army sites

Berlin: German police said Monday they were investigating recent drone sightings over two military facilities, at a time when Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has put the country on alert for espionage.

Police in the southern state of Bavaria said they, together with prosecutors, were looking into several incidents in which drones have flown over military installations in Manching and Neuburg an der Donau.

Police saw up to 10 flying cars in a safe army domain in Manches, which houses an army aerodrome and is the position in which the Eurofighter Jet evolves through Airbus, Sunday on Sunday.

The eyewitness also saw several drones in the same on December 16 and 18, as well as the first hours of Christmas day.

On December 19 three drones were spotted over at Neuburg an der Donau, also over a military air base.

The two sites lie around 20 kilometres (12 miles) apart just south of the city of Ingolstadt.

Police have said that they had undertaken “deep investigations” on incidents, adding the deployment of helicopters “because it is excluded that army comforts and defense corporations are spyey in the context of the war of attack of Russia opposite to Ukraine. “

However, the police have not yet been able to who drones.

‘Suspicious people’

Police have asked the public to report any applicable information, adding sightings of “suspicious persons or vehicles” near the two sites.

Incidents are investigated for imaginable violations of the law that prohibits “taking photographs that threaten security. “

In May 2024, a Eurofighter jet broke down after colliding with a drone while touchdown at the spot site.

In recent months several drones have also been spotted at an industrial zone near the North Sea and near the US airbase in Ramstein.

Germany has been unsettled in recent years by a number of high-profile cases of alleged spying for foreign powers.

A Chinese woman arrested in October in Germany accused of spying on the defense industry.

Police also launched an investigation in December into a Chinese boy who allegedly took photos at a naval base on the Baltic Sea coast of Gerguyy.

At the end of the year, a series of mysterious drones sightings in the American state of New Jersey caused international curiosity, which announced drone flight restrictions.

However federal US officials insisted there was no “national security or public safety risk” linked to the sightings and rejected any suggestion of foreign involvement.
