Donald trump to open new Louis Vuitton website in US

President Donald trump will attend Thursday’s opening of a new manufacturing site in Texas for chic handbag maker Louis Vuitton, building on the French luxury powerhouse in the us leader’s job creation pitch as he prepares for a re-election campaign next year.

Bernard Arnault, head of the LVMH conglomerate that owns the leather goods brand, will also attend the event at “Rancho Rochambeau” near Dallas, named after the General who led French troops along with 13 colonies in the American revolution.

“Thanks to the economic policies of the trump administration, LVMH will open Louis Vuitton Rochambeau in Texas. Along with this investment, LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault has promised 1,000 new opportunities for local artisans

Arnault was one of the first senior French business leaders to meet with trump in January 2017, just weeks after his election, when he suggested considering expanding Louis Vuitton into the United States.

The U.S. market is the second largest for LVMH overall, and it already has two U.S. manufacturing sites in California for Louis Vuitton, whose bags can cost thousands of dollars.

It says half of the Louis Vuitton workers it hires have no previous experience in leather craft, and receive intensive in-house training before being allowed to cut or sew.

Trump is likely to grab on to a new site later Thursday on what media commentators are billing as a major campaign rally in Dallas, seeking to rally supporters as he fends off an impeachment investigation.
