Coinbase (finally) launches mobile app for Pro-traders

Users of Coinbase, the popular us cryptocurrency exchange, have been able to buy or sell cryptocurrencies on their mobile phones for some time. But users of Coinbase Pro, the sister site of Coinbase and a much more advanced trading platform aimed at professional investors and traders, have had to do all their trading on the desktop – until now.

On Thursday, the company launched Coinbase Pro for iOS, allowing users to check prices, monitor their portfolios, and buy and sell cryptocurrencies on the go.

Coinbase claims the new app has an emphasis on ” speed, ease of use, and a clean, streamlined shopping experience.”

Other features include real-time candlesticks, depth charts, an overview of order books and advanced order types, and shortcuts. In terms of trading fees or trading pairs on offer, everything will be the same as on a desktop platform.

Coinbase says the mobile version of Coinbase Pro has been a highly sought-after feature, which is not particularly surprising given that the desktop version of the service has been around for years. (Coinbase Pro is a rebranded GDAX that was launched in 2015.) A company representative told me in an email that Coinbase has been working for over a year on Coinbase Pro for mobile phones, building an app from scratch.

Coinbase Pro for iOS is available on Apple’s App Store. The Android version of the app is not yet available, but Coinbase claims to be coming “soon.”
