Coca-Cola European Partners is investing € 49 million in the Wakefield website

The new technologies used in the line aim to make production more sustainable-from projected energy savings through the use of automatic conveyor control to water reduction using an air canister.

Regulation of processes

A further £ 10m was invested in CCEP Wakefield to install a recycling plant to regulate processes across the plant’s lines, which would help reduce water and energy consumption.

The business has also committed £ 15 million to an existing canning line to replace the use of plastic shrink wrap through multi-packs of cans with 100% recyclable cardboard. The move was part of a wider initiative to end the use of plastic shrink wrap on all its multipacks cans across the UK.

Steve Thorpe, interim Director of CCEP Wakefield, said: “This recent investment demonstrates Coca-Cola European Partners’ long-term commitment to the Wakefield area and UK manufacturing in General.
