The 2019 Chumash Charity Golf Classic is raising money to help rebuild the Rancho Alegre camp.
The 2017 Whittier fire destroyed nearly all structures at the camp located off highway 154. It has been used by the boy scouts and the Outdoor School for over 50 years.
It is expected that the restoration of the camp will cost about $ 15.5 million. The Los Padres Council of the boy scouts of America is trying to raise $ 6.5 million, a cost that will not be covered by insurance.
The two-day Golf tournament, held on Wednesday and Thursday on the Alisal river in Solvang, was sold out. Some of the money raised will also help Fund the Santa Ynez band Chumash Indians technology in schools program.
