British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said earlier today that he had struck a new Brexit deal with the European Union – a “big new deal,” he said, that “takes back control.” But fundamentally, the deal still needs the approval of both the British and European parliaments.
And at Westminster, there is uncertainty about the likelihood of MPs giving their approval when they meet in emergency session on Saturday. The Northern Ireland DUP, whose support Boris Johnson needs, has already rejected it. And Labour says this deal is much worse for the UK than the one negotiated by Theresa May.
