WASHINGTON (AP) – Days after a solemn milestone in the pandemic, President Joe Biden celebrates the speed of his efforts to end it.
On Thursday, Biden marked the management of the 50 million dose of the COVID-19 vaccine since its oath, the time came a few days after the country reached the devastating milestone of 500,000 coronavirus deaths and before an assembly with the country’s governors planning to boost distribution.
“The more people are vaccinated, the faster we’re going to defeat this pandemic,” Biden said at the White House ceremony, noting that his administration is about to exceed his promise to deliver a hundred million vaccines in his first hundred days in the office.
“We’re halfway there: 50 million in 37 days,” Biden said, “we’re getting ahead of schedule for weeks. “
In total, more than forty-five million Americans have earned at least one dose of Pfizer and Moderna approved vaccines since receiving food and drug administration approval in December, and more than 20 million have won either dose.
As a component of the ceremony, 4 frontline staff members (a couple of emergency medical technicians, a school counselor, and a grocery store worker) earned doses of vaccine on live television as part of the White House’s efforts to build confidence in the immunization program.
Biden predicts that until last spring, there will be enough vaccine to give to those who need it, but that hesitation about the vaccine will restrict the number of others who will need it. “We’ll have the vaccine on hold,” Biden said, predicting that this point can come in 60 to 90 days.
He promised a “massive crusade to teach people” about the protection and effectiveness of vaccines, hoping to bring the call to life, as the country aims to vaccinate about 80% of adults on collective immunity and end the pandemic.
Biden said he plans to go to a mass vaccination site run by the U. S. military in Houston on Friday, one of many tactics his administration aims to speed up injections, especially once the source increases.
Biden signaled promise that a third vaccine will receive approval as soon as this weekend, while Johnson’s single-dose candidate
“We have a plan to implement it as temporarily as Johnson
In meeting with the governors, Biden asked for his help in moving forward with his $1. 9 trillion “American Rescue Plan,” which provides the budget to expand immunization and testing, as well as financial assistance for others struggling with the pandemic.
“The economic record of this pandemic continues to set aside our country as brutally as the virus itself,” Biden said.
Biden also warned that variants can continue to spread, leading to more cases and hospitalizations, and called on Americans to attach themselves to social estating measures and cover their faces.
“This is the time to relax, ” he said.
