Abu Dhabi crown Prince, Putin discuss bilateral expansion

Dubai, October 16 (IANS) Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan has held an official meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on expanding bilateral relations.

During a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the crown Prince expressed hope that Putin’s visit will achieve the goals and objectives to strengthen ties between the UAE and Russia in various sectors, the official news Agency WAM reported.

The sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments, particularly in the Persian Gulf region and the Middle East.

The crown Prince said the UAE was interested in continuing relations with Russia in many sectors, adding that the UAE and Russia had agreed on the need to confront the threat of terrorism and extremism, Xinhua reported.

Putin noted that bilateral relations continue to develop in a friendly and constructive context.

He noted that last year the number of Russian tourists in the UAE increased by 23 percent, adding about $ 1.3 billion to the UAE’s tourism economy.
