10K pounds of food raised Funds from Haverford

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA – A member of the public has donated thousands of pounds of food in Haverford Township over the past few months. And now the food has been suspended.

The municipality introduced a weekly food donation deposit at CREC in May, where citizens can donate food Wednesday to those in need amid the coronavirus.

According to the canton, citizens have donated more than 10,000 pounds of food since the inauguration.

The municipality said weekly food collection had been suspended due to overwhelming citizen participation and the start of limited activities resumed this fall.

Authorities said anyone who is still willing to help their neighbors in search of money deserves to donate pieces to pantries in the area.

The municipality still has thousands of pounds of pieces to donate.

“On behalf of those in need, we thank you for your generosity,” the municipality said in a statement.

Pennsylvania restaurants can increase occupancy by 50% starting September 21, Governor Wolf announced Tuesday.
